Helper rest day compensation calculator (Singapore, MOM rules 2026)
How much do you owe your helper if she agrees to work on her rest day? Type her salary and the number of rest days she works this month. The calculator uses MOM's own formula.
The MOM rules, quoted
One rest day a week. MOM: "Your MDW is entitled to one rest day per week. You and your MDW must mutually agree on which day of the week she should take the rest day."
Working a rest day = at least 1 day's salary extra. MOM: "If your MDW agrees to work on her rest day, you must compensate her with at least 1 day's salary. This is an additional payment and is not counted into the MDW's basic salary."
1 day's salary = monthly salary ÷ 26. MOM: "1 day's salary can be calculated by dividing your MDW's monthly salary by 26 working days, regardless of the number of days in the month."
One rest day a month can't be paid away. MOM: "From 1 January 2023, all employers must ensure their MDWs have at least one rest day each month that cannot be compensated away."

Worked example
Salary SGD 700. One day's salary = 700 ÷ 26 = SGD 26.92. She agrees to work 2 of her 4 Sundays: minimum pay in lieu = SGD 53.85, so at least SGD 753.85 for the month, and she still has 2 rest days.
Write it down
Agree the rest day and any working rest days with her, then put it on paper, and update the number of rest days in MOM's FDW eService as MOM asks. Our rest day agreement guide has a simple template.
